This chemical, as inferred by several studies, causes tumours. In fact, diacetyl, a chemical found in the popcorn itself, is said to be carcinogenic that can also cause lung damage.

Farmed Salmon
Salmon, undoubtedly, is one of the most nutritious foods and a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids. However, farmed salmon is considered to be among the cancer-causing foods to avoid.

Researchers say that farmed salmon not only lacks vitamin D but is usually contaminated with carcinogenic chemicals. These include flame retardants, antibiotics, pesticides, and PCBs or polychlorinated biphenyls.

Hydrogenated Oils
Hydrogenated oils are harmful and can be carcinogenic too. These oils are primarily used to preserve processed foods. However, hydrogenated oils alter the flexibility and structure of the cell membranes throughout the body. By doing so, they pose the risk of cancer, along with a lot of other debilitating diseases.

Refined White Flour
While there is considerable use of refined white flour in most processed foods, it is definitely one of the cancer-causing foods to avoid. The excess carbohydrate content of the flour is a matter of concern. In fact, studies have found that regular consumption of refined carbohydrates is linked to a more than 200% increase in breast cancer among women. It also raises blood sugar levels and directly increases the cancer cells' growth and their subsequent spread.

Soda Pop
Again, a very tempting food, it can be extremely harmful to your health. Much like processed foods and meat, in particular, soda pop can cause cancer. This is primarily because they are filled with food chemicals, colourings, and sugar. As a result, they acidify the body and literally feed the cancer cells. The standard chemicals such as caramel colour and its derivative 4-methylimidazole (4-MI) are, in fact, specifically linked to causing cancer.

The list of cancer-causing foods to avoid can turn out to be a rather long one. The ones mentioned above can be considered to be the most dangerous ones, and their consumption should be limited or avoided for a healthy life.
